6 Months Old!

On 10/12/12, Lelaina turned 6 months old. She is getting so big! Her 6 month stats: 18lbs4oz (82% for weight), 25 inches (32% for height), and 67% for head circumference She's rolling all over the place and makes it all the way across the floor. She's learning how to sit on her own, but it's a work in progress. She's eating all the solids now and has been through the fruits and vegetables. She seems to like all the foods, but isn't as great of an eater as her brother. She smiles all the time and seems like the happiest baby in the world. She loves her brother and watches him all over the place. We think she is teething and has been a little cranky the past few nights. But, she is sleeping better and sleeps most nights 9-10 hours.

5 Months Old

On 9/12/12, Lelaina turned 5 months old. She started eating cereal and is going to start veggies today. She loves solid foods, but still struggles with the bottle. The good news is she is growing like crazy! She weighs ~16 lbs. She is rolling like crazy now and can roll all over the floor! She loves to smile - she smiles at everyone! She also likes to talk and squeals in delight. She sleeps about 8 hours a night and is still getting up between 3-5 am. Hopefully, as we increase solids, she will sleep longer. She also managed her first trip to Rochester - everyone loved her!

4 month stats

Lelaina's 4 month stats: Weight 14lbs9oz (55%), height (2'.41") (45%), and Head (58%). She's getting so big! Today, we start rice cereal!

4 Months Old

Lelaina is getting really big. I think she is over 13lbs, but will confirm and report her stats after her Dr. appt. on Thursday. She's on the move as she is rolling over now! She's also holding rattles. She loves holding the rattles on her bouncy chair. She's talking too....she says ah-goo and makes raspberries and zurbert sounds. She's also smiling a lot, squealing, and laughing now. She adjusted well in her first month of day care. They love her there as she is a super easy baby. She's sleeping well too...she goes to bed around 8 and sleeps until 4 or 5.

3 Months!

On July 12, Lelaina turned 3 months old. We think she is approximately 12 lbs. She started day care last week and is having lots of fun meeting all her new friends. She is sleeping about 6-7 hours a night. She is still a really finicky bottle drinker, but it is still a learning process. Lelaina is smiling all the time!

Two Months Old

Yesterday, Lelaina was two months old. We think she weighs over 10lbs now and is getting bigger every day. We are still trying to figure out her feeding habits as she eats sporadically throughout the day. She's smiling a lot now and getting more and more personality each day. We transitioned her to her crib last weekend and she has done really well. For the most part, she is sleeping 6 hours at night. Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to her sleeping all night and getting into more of a routine. She has her well visit on Monday, so we will know all her stats then. Less than 4 weeks until Mommy returns to work and Lelaina meets her new friends in day care.

One Month Old

Lelaina has been such a good baby over the last month. She's really starting to fill out and get bigger. We estimate she is a little over 8lbs now. She just started having a period of fussiness from 8pm-midnight and we cannot seem to figure out why. Otherwise, she is a pretty chill baby. She's doing well bottle feeding now and the specialist did not need to clip her tongue. Cosimo loves his sister and is really gentle with her. We just started playing on the activity mat and she likes looking at all the toys, but can't spend too much time on the mat or she get's frustrated. So, we will work on it. Her next well visit isn't until 2 months, so we will have to wait and see how she's doing on the growth chart.

Welcome Lelaina!

Lelaina Valentina Gaster was born on April 12, 2012 at 5:18 pm. She weighed 6lbs6oz and was 19.5 inches long. Lelaina seemed to want to come into the world early when I started having contractions at 29 weeks. The Drs. believe the contractions were caused by a 10cm fibroid. After 8 weeks of bedrest, mommy was sprung free and thought for sure Lelaina would make her entrance soon thereafter. Well, she had other ideas. She had to be induced a day after her due date. The delivery was less than smooth. They started the pitocin at 8:30 a.m. At that time, mommy was 4cm dilated. After several hours, mommy was stuck at 6cm. After 5 hours of being stuck at 6cm, combined with Lelaina's heart rate dipping, at 4pm, the Dr. informed mommy she needed a C-section. The C-section went smoothly. However, when Lelaina was born she didn't cry or breathe After she was suctioned and given some oxygen, she screamed real loud for everyone to hear. We all breathed a sigh of relief. The Drs. informed mommy that the fibroid had interfered with the cervix, which required the C-section. Nursing from the start was a struggle. Lelaina was born tongue-tied and could not properly nurse. Within a few days, we were forced to go to a bottle. While mommy tried to pump, she also suffered from production issues. So, Lelaina had nearly 2 weeks of breast milk, but is going to be a formula-fed baby. Mommy was disappointed, but this was best for everyone. We are having her tongue evaluated next week to make sure she doesn't suffer from any future issues. Lelaina's big brother Cosimo has adjusted real well and loves his sister. He tells everyone to "shhhh" when she's sleeping. He also copies mommy and daddy with the baby doll that Grandma McClintock gave him. He diapers her and puts her to bed.
